Costly Obedience

Scripture:

“We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

Reflection:

Obedience is easy when it costs little, but true devotion is tested when obedience requires sacrifice. The apostles chose to obey God even when threatened by authorities. Their courage reminds us that obedience often comes with a cost, rejection, discomfort, or loss.

Costly obedience reveals where our loyalty lies. Do we seek the approval of people or the approval of God? When faced with a choice between compromise and conviction, our obedience demonstrates the depth of our faith.

Though costly, obedience always leads to reward. It deepens our faith, glorifies God, and often becomes a witness to others. God honors those who put Him first, even when it means standing against the crowd.

Prayer:

Lord, give me courage to obey You even when it costs me. Help me to value Your approval above the approval of others.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What has obedience to God cost me in the past?

2. Am I willing to follow Him no matter the cost?
