When Strength Runs Out
Scripture
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
— Psalm 73:26
Reflection
There are moments when we reach the end of our strength not all at once, but slowly. It wears down through long days, repeated responsibilities, and seasons where there seems to be no relief in sight.
We don’t usually plan to arrive there. We just wake up one day and realize we’ve been holding more than we were meant to carry.
This verse doesn’t pretend that we won’t grow tired. It names the truth plainly: our hearts can fail, our strength can falter. And yet, it anchors us somewhere steady. God does not fail when we do. He does not step back when we reach our limit. He becomes our strength in that place.
Rest doesn’t always mean the circumstances change. Sometimes rest comes from remembering who is holding us when we can’t hold ourselves together anymore.
You don’t have to summon more strength today. You’re allowed to lean into His.
Prayer
God,
I admit how tired I feel — in my body, my heart, and my spirit.
When my strength runs out, remind me that You are still steady.
Help me rest in You today, trusting that You are carrying what I cannot.
Amen.
Reflection Questions
Where do I feel most weary right now — physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
What am I still trying to carry on my own that I could place in God’s hands today?
What would rest look like for me in this season?
Today’s Thought
I don’t have to be strong today — God is my strength.
