Identity in Christ

Resting in the steady truth that you are deeply loved by God, fully known by Him, and never beyond His reach.

< Back

I am God’s beloved child through faith in Christ.

Galatians 3:26

“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

Paul is speaking to believers about the new family identity they receive through faith in Christ. Our standing with God is not based on background, achievement, or status. Those who belong to Christ are welcomed into God’s family and given a new identity in Him.

In Christ, I am a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!”

Paul teaches that belonging to Christ brings a genuinely new identity. This does not mean every struggle disappears immediately, but it does mean our deepest identity is no longer defined by our past. In Christ, we belong to God and are being made new.

I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ for good works.

Ephesians 2:10

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.”

Ephesians 2 makes clear that salvation is a gift of grace, not something we earn. As those who have been made alive in Christ, we are God’s workmanship, created to live in the good works He has prepared for us. Our value comes from belonging to Him, not from proving ourselves.
