God Is Already Working

Reflection

One of the hardest parts of trusting God is waiting when you can't see anything happening.

Maybe you've been praying for your marriage. Or asking God to heal a relationship. Perhaps you've been praying for a child to return to the Lord, for a job, or for an answer that still hasn't come. After a while, it's easy to wonder if your prayers are making any difference at all.

When nothing changes on the outside, our first instinct is often to take matters into our own hands. We try harder. We say more. We search for another solution because doing something feels safer than waiting.

But God's work is often hidden before it becomes visible.

Long before you see the answer, He may already be preparing it. He is working in conversations you haven't heard, softening hearts you cannot see, opening doors you didn't know existed, and arranging circumstances beyond your understanding. Just because you cannot see His hand doesn't mean He has stopped moving.

Jesus never asked us to carry the weight of producing the outcome. He invites us to remain close to Him instead.

In John 15, Jesus compares our lives to branches connected to a vine. A branch doesn't struggle to produce fruit. It doesn't strain or force itself to grow. It simply stays connected to the vine, receiving everything it needs for life.

The same is true for you.

Your responsibility is not to make God's promises happen. Your responsibility is to remain connected to the One who does.

Sometimes abiding looks very ordinary. It is opening your Bible even when you don't feel inspired. It is whispering another prayer when yesterday's prayer seemed unanswered. It is thanking God for His faithfulness before you can see the evidence. It is choosing to trust His character instead of your circumstances.

Growth rarely happens all at once. More often, it happens quietly, almost unnoticed, as you continue walking with Jesus one faithful day at a time.

If today feels discouraging, don't measure God's work only by what you can see. Measure it by His promises. He has not stopped working, and He has not forgotten you.

Keep abiding. Keep trusting. Keep walking with Him.

The fruit will come in His time.

Prayer

Jesus, when I cannot see what You are doing, help me trust that You are still at work. Teach me to remain close to You instead of trying to carry burdens You never asked me to bear. Give me the patience to wait, the faith to keep abiding, and the peace that comes from knowing You are always working for my good. Amen.
