Knowing God Through His Word
Scripture:
âYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.â (Psalm 119:105)
Reflection:
Godâs Word is more than a book â it is His living revelation of Himself. When we read Scripture, we encounter His voice, His wisdom, and His heart. The psalmist describes the Word as a lamp and a light â it guides our steps, keeps us from stumbling, and points us toward His will. Without it, we are left in darkness.
Knowing God through His Word requires intentionality. It means reading not just for information, but for transformation. When we open the Bible, we should ask, âWhat does this teach me about who God is?â More than just lessons for living, Scripture is an invitation to relationship. Every page reveals His character â His faithfulness in the Old Testament, His mercy in the prophets, His love in the Gospels, His power in the early church.
As we immerse ourselves in the Word, it changes us. It corrects, encourages, convicts, and strengthens. It reminds us of Godâs promises and anchors us when life feels uncertain. Knowing the Word is knowing the God who inspired it.
Prayer:
Lord, give me a hunger for Your Word. Open my eyes to see You in its pages and let it transform my heart each day.
Reflection Questions:
Do I read the Bible more for knowledge or for knowing God?
How has Scripture revealed Godâs character to me this week?
