Trusting God’s Character

Scripture:

“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” (Psalm 34:8)

Reflection:

Trust is rooted in knowing God’s character. If we believe He is good, faithful, and loving, then trust becomes the natural response. The psalmist invites us to “taste and see” God’s goodness — to experience it personally. The more we experience Him, the stronger our trust becomes.

Doubts about God often come when circumstances are painful. In those moments, we may question His goodness. Yet His character is unchanging, even when our circumstances are not. Trust grows when we remember His past faithfulness and choose to believe He is the same today.

Taking refuge in Him is an act of trust. It means running to Him instead of away from Him, resting in His presence, and believing He is good even when we don’t fully understand.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to taste and see Your goodness today. Remind me that Your character never changes, and teach me to take refuge in You.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How have I experienced God’s goodness in my life?

  2. Do I run to Him as my refuge when life is hard?
