Surrender Is Strength

James 4:7–8
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Reflection

Surrender often feels like weakness. Like letting go of control. Like losing ground. But in Scripture, surrender is strength.

Submission is not passive, it is decisive trust. It says, “I choose God’s leadership over my own understanding.” And in that decision, something powerful happens: nearness increases.

Drawing near does not require perfection. It requires willingness. Each small act of surrender pulls your heart closer to Him.

Prayer

Father, I surrender what I have been trying to control. Teach me that yielding to You is not weakness but trust. Help me draw near instead of tightening my grip. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Reflection Questions

  1. What am I struggling to surrender?

  2. How might surrender actually strengthen me?

  3. What does drawing near look like today?
