The Rest That Restores

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

Reflection

Jesus does not say, “Come to Me once you’ve figured it out.”

He says, come weary.

The rest He offers is not earned. It is received.

Rest is not quitting.

It is returning.

When you sit with Him, something quiet happens inside you. Your breathing slows. Your thoughts settle. Your heart realigns.

You begin to remember who holds your life together.

Prayer

Jesus, I come weary. Teach me how to receive Your rest instead of trying to deserve it. Amen.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in my life am I trying to earn rest instead of simply receiving what Jesus is offering?

  • What does “returning” to Jesus look like for me practically today — is it slowing down, being honest, releasing control, or something else?

  • When I imagine bringing my weariness to Him without fixing it first, what emotions rise up — and what might Jesus be gently inviting me to trust Him with?

Today's Thought

I receive the rest Jesus offers.
