When God Reminded Me That I Am Enough

One morning, as I stood in my kitchen baking cookies—something I had done countless times before—I found myself wrestling with a familiar feeling of inadequacy. As the dough rolled between my fingers and the sweet smell of baking filled the air, my mind raced with thoughts that perhaps what I was doing wasn’t enough. After all, baking cookies seemed so small, so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Could this really be what God wanted from me? Wasn’t I supposed to be doing more, achieving more, making a bigger difference?
In the midst of my worry, the Lord spoke into my heart with a gentle but piercing question: “When did I ever say it wasn’t enough?” His words stopped me in my tracks, like a soft breeze that suddenly brings clarity. It was as if the scales fell from my eyes, and in that moment, I realized how I had been measuring my worth and my work through the wrong lens—my own.
God never said it wasn’t enough. I had placed those doubts and expectations on myself. He never asked me to do more than offer what I had already given Him. The cookies, the scriptures, the love poured into each batch—they were all enough because He was in it.
A Divine Perspective
As I stood there in the quiet of my kitchen, humbled and still, the Lord showed me something even deeper. He gave me a glimpse of how He sees me—and how He sees you. In His eyes, I wasn’t just a woman baking cookies. I was His beloved daughter, precious and chosen.
And then, in the most tender way, He showed me a vision: upon my head, there was a wrap, almost like a crown, and written across it were the words “Holy unto the Lord.” In that moment, I understood that everything I do for Him, no matter how small or simple, is holy when it is done with a heart surrendered to Him. The cookies I baked weren’t just cookies; they were a holy offering, made with love for His glory.
The Power of Enough
Too often, we get caught up in the world’s definition of success. We think we need to do more, be more, or achieve something grand to matter. But God measures our lives through a different lens. In His kingdom, it’s not the size of the act that matters—it’s the heart behind it.
When Jesus fed the five thousand, He didn’t need a feast to perform a miracle. He took a small offering of five loaves and two fish and multiplied it to meet the needs of the crowd. That’s what He does with the small things we offer. He takes what we have and turns it into something greater than we could ever imagine.
The cookies I bake, paired with handwritten scripture verses, might seem small in the eyes of the world. But God sees them as an offering of love, given freely in His name. He takes that offering and uses it to reach hearts in ways I may never fully understand. And the same is true for you. Whatever God has placed in your hands—whether it’s baking, serving, teaching, or simply loving others—when it’s done for Him, it’s enough.
You Are Holy Unto the Lord
What struck me most in that moment was the truth of how God sees each of us. We are not defined by our roles, our productivity, or even our own self-doubt. We are defined by Him, and in His eyes, we are precious daughters, set apart for His purposes.
That wrap around my head, the one that said “Holy unto the Lord,” wasn’t just for me. It’s for you, too. When God looks at you, He sees His beloved child, holy and precious in His sight. He doesn’t see your insecurities or the ways you think you fall short. He sees a daughter He loves deeply, someone He has chosen and set apart for His kingdom work.
And that work, no matter how small it seems to you, is enough. It’s holy. It’s pleasing to Him because it comes from your heart, surrendered to His will.
Resting in God’s Truth
If you’ve ever felt like what you’re doing isn’t enough, I encourage you to listen for that same question God asked me: “When did I ever say it wasn’t enough?” Let Him show you how He sees you, and allow His truth to settle in your heart.
You don’t have to strive to be more or do more to be valuable in His kingdom. You are already enough because you belong to Him. The work you do in His name, whether big or small, is holy and sacred. It brings Him joy because it’s done from a heart that loves Him.
So the next time you find yourself doubting your worth or the value of what you’re doing, remember that you are His beloved daughter. He has placed a wrap upon your head that declares you are “Holy unto the Lord.” And in His eyes, that is more than enough.
Let go of the worries, rest in His love, and trust that what you offer—no matter how simple it seems—is precious in His sight. You are enough because He is enough.
