God Instead of Fixing Everything

Some of us are fixers.

When something feels off, we look for a solution.

When someone is hurting, we try to make it better.

When life feels uncertain, we start making lists, plans, and backup plans.

It isn’t a bad thing. Often it comes from caring deeply.

But if we’re honest, it can be exhausting.

When things feel out of my control, my first instinct is to do something. Anything. Sitting still can feel uncomfortable. Almost irresponsible. As if the moment I stop managing everything, it might all fall apart.

Maybe you know that feeling too.

But Scripture gently reminds us that God does not ask us to fix our way into peace. He invites us to sit with Him instead.

There is a moment in the story of Mary and Martha when Jesus does not praise busyness or problem-solving. He honors presence. Mary sits at His feet, and Jesus calls it “the better part” (Luke 10:42).

That always stops me.

Jesus is not saying that work does not matter. He is reminding us that it is not what sustains us. Ecclesiastes speaks of the emptiness of striving for its own sake — the kind of endless activity that leaves us weary.

Sometimes faith looks like releasing the need to have all the answers.

Sometimes it looks like loosening our grip and letting God be God.

Sitting with Him does not mean we stop caring.

It means we stop carrying what was never ours to hold alone.

You do not have to fix everything today.

You do not have to figure everything out before you rest.

You are allowed to press pause.

You are allowed to sit with Jesus and simply be with Him.

God is already at work; even in places you cannot see (Philippians 2:13).

"for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose".

Today, give yourself two quiet minutes.

And if two feels like too much, begin with one.

Just sit.

Whisked Reflection

Ask yourself where in your life are you trying to fix what God is asking you to surrender?

Take a slow breath. Release one thing into His hands.

Closing Response

Today, choose His presence over the

pressure.

With love and grace,

Maria
