Wednesday Wisdom, Whisked Reflections: Confessions from the Kitchen

The Heart Behind the Kitchen: Finding Faith in the Most Unlikely Places

Hey there, friend! I’m so glad you’re here. Today, I want to take you behind the scenes and share the heart behind something new I’m working on—Confessions from the Kitchen, my podcast. I’ve spent countless hours praying, reflecting, and dreaming about what this podcast could become, and I hope this feels like an open invitation to join me on the journey.

A taste of truth, a dash of grace—Confessions from the Kitchen podcast is coming soon!

For my family, the kitchen is so much more than a place to make meals—it’s the place where everyone gathers, where conversations flow, and where we naturally end up when we need to talk about life. The kitchen is the heartbeat of our home, a space where connections deepen over cups of coffee, shared experiences, and honest conversation. There’s something grounding about the simple act of slowing down here. For me, the kitchen has become a place to think, pray, and, most importantly, just be.

Life, as you probably know, involves a lot of waiting. Waiting for prayers to be answered, waiting for clarity, waiting to see what God is doing with all the pieces that don’t quite make sense yet. My own journey involved 25 years of waiting before the Lord gave the green light to take the first step toward starting A Message of Hope Ministry.   Although I have been baking the Angelina Cucina Cookies and giving them away.

For me I believe they were used as a way for me to draw closer to God and to also occupy me while I was waiting. FYI - I hate waiting - mainly because I'm awful at it. Looking back, I can see how God was working through it all—guiding, preparing, and building my heart through every joy and setback. And where did He often meet me in those years of waiting? Right in the place where I was standing, (which more often than not was my kitchen), and in those quiet moments while cookies baked and prayers lingered in the air He was there.

So, what’s Confessions from the Kitchen all about? My hope is that it feels like a true heart-to-heart with a friend—honest, open, and grounded in faith. We’ll talk about life’s messes and miracles, the moments we celebrate, and the things we’re still bringing before God – because life isn’t perfect and neither are we. Some episodes will share pieces of my own faith journey, while others might explore lessons learned from life moments that have gone wrong or the unexpected ways of sharing how God has moved.  Through it all, I want to be real with you, sharing the ups and downs in a way that helps us all see God at work in our everyday lives.

The kitchen, for me, is a reminder of God’s patient, transforming love. It’s a place where things come together over time—ordinary ingredients like flour and sugar, when mixed with a little care, turn into something nourishing. And in God’s hands, that’s exactly what our lives are like. He takes every experience, every rough edge, and with His touch, they become something meaningful—something that, in its own way, can bless others.

So if you’re feeling like the pieces of your life aren’t fitting together just yet, come on in. Let’s talk, let’s pray, and let’s reflect on how God is working in the waiting and the unknown, guiding us through every step, whether we’re baking cookies or navigating a challenging season.

Thank you for being here, for reading, and for joining me today. I hope Confessions from the Kitchen becomes a space where you feel seen, encouraged, and maybe even inspired to notice God’s presence in your own life, wherever you are.

With love and a dash of sweetness,

Maria
