Amos

Amos takes its name from the prophet Amos (עָמוֹס), whose name is connected with the idea of carrying a burden. God called Amos, a shepherd and farmer from Judah, to speak to the northern kingdom of Israel during a time of prosperity, injustice, and spiritual complacency. The book strongly condemns empty worship, oppression of the poor, and confidence without obedience. Amos reveals the Lord as just and righteous—the God who cares deeply about how His people treat others, calls them to genuine faithfulness, and still holds out hope for restoration.
