James
James takes its name from James, traditionally understood to be the brother of Jesus and a leader in the Jerusalem church. The letter is deeply practical, focusing on how genuine faith should shape everyday life through perseverance, wisdom, speech, humility, justice, prayer, and care for others. James repeatedly challenges believers not merely to hear God’s Word, but to live it. The book reveals that true faith is active and visible, producing a life marked by obedience, compassion, integrity, and steadfast trust in God.
