Joel
Joel takes its name from the prophet Yoel (יוֹאֵל), whose name means “The LORD is God.” Joel speaks to God’s people in the aftermath of a devastating locust plague, using that crisis to call them to wholehearted repentance and renewed dependence on the Lord. The book looks beyond immediate disaster to the coming “day of the LORD,” a time of both judgment and restoration. Joel reveals the Lord as just and merciful—the God who calls His people to return to Him, promises renewal, and declares that He will pour out His Spirit.
