Matthew
Matthew takes its name from Matthew, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples and a former tax collector. The Gospel presents Jesus as the promised Messiah and King, repeatedly showing how His life and ministry fulfill the Scriptures of Israel. Through His teaching, miracles, parables, death, and resurrection, Matthew reveals the kingdom of heaven breaking into the world through Jesus. The book shows Him as Emmanuel—“God with us”—the Son of David, the Son of God, and the risen King who calls His followers to make disciples of all nations.
