Hosea
Hosea takes its name from the prophet Hoshea (הוֹשֵׁעַ), whose name means “salvation.” God called Hosea to speak to the northern kingdom of Israel during a time of spiritual unfaithfulness and idolatry. Through Hosea’s marriage and family life, the book powerfully portrays Israel’s broken covenant relationship with God. Hosea reveals the Lord as holy and just, yet also deeply compassionate—the faithful God who continues to pursue His people, calls them to return, and longs to restore them.
