The Greatest Victory
“Do not be afraid,” the angel said to the women. “For I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
Matthew 28:5–6

Reflection
At first, the cross looked like a tragedy. Jesus had been arrested, beaten, and crucified. The disciples were devastated. The one they believed was the Messiah had died, and it seemed as if all hope had been lost. But the cross was never the end of the story.
From the very beginning, Jesus knew exactly what He was doing. He had told His followers that He would suffer, that He would die, and that on the third day He would rise again. What looked like defeat was actually part of God’s plan to rescue the world.
Three days after Jesus was buried, several women came to the tomb early in the morning. When they arrived, the stone had been rolled away. The tomb was empty.
An angel spoke the words that changed history:
“He is not here; He has risen.”
The resurrection was not simply a miracle it was a victory. It was the moment when sin and death were defeated. The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross had been accepted, and the power of the grave had been broken. And this is what makes the resurrection so beautiful. Jesus was not a victim of circumstances. He willingly gave His life. As He once said, “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord.” (John 10:18) He chose the cross so that we could have forgiveness.
He rose from the grave so that we could have new life. Because Jesus lives, the story does not end in death. It ends in victory. And that victory is offered to everyone who believes in Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the victory of the resurrection. Thank You for willingly giving Your life so that I could be forgiven and restored to God. Help me live each day in the hope and joy that come from knowing You are alive. Amen.
