Humility That Glorifies God
Scripture:
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)
Reflection:
John the Baptist shows us the heart posture that glorifies God: humility. He recognized that his role was not to seek attention for himself but to point to Jesus. True glorification of God happens when we step aside so His greatness can be seen more clearly.
Pride seeks to draw attention to ourselves, but humility redirects it to God. When we serve quietly, give generously, or live faithfully without recognition, God receives the glory. Our lives become mirrors, reflecting His greatness rather than our own.
This doesn’t mean we disappear; it means we live in such a way that people notice Him more than us. Humility glorifies God because it acknowledges that everything we are and everything we have comes from Him.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me humility. Help me to decrease so that Christ may increase and be glorified in my life.
Reflection Questions:
Do I seek recognition for myself or point others to God?
2. How can I practice humility in order to glorify Him more fully?
